4 Good Reasons why Distance Learning is Better

Published on Monday June 27, 2022 11:54 by Umesh Singla

There is an America Proverb “ Education is a gift none can take away”. In fact, education is the very basis on which the very distinction between good and bad people is made. If you are a good man, you must be an educated one. And if you are not educated and still want to claim that you are good, first equip yourself with a good education. Simply put, education is the very axis around which the virtues/vices of a human being revolves.

After knowing about the all-encompassing benefits of education, it is important to know that the very format of education keeps on changing from time-to-time. In the early format of education, there was a Gurukul system. The students would go to the forest to his Guru’s Ashram and live there in austerity till the time they complete their education. As time changed, so changed the education pattern. Today, there are mainly two formats of education — regular and Distance Education.

There is constant debate on: which of these formats is better today? Some educationists say the Regular while some argue for Distance Education. Given below are 4 Good Reasons why Distance learning is better:

  • No need to leave the present Job: The problem with the people levying for higher education is that they can ill afford to leave their present job, for they already have so many responsibilities and liabilities. And since any course enrollment requires regular classes, getting a higher degree keeps on eluding them. But, the thing that makes distance education get an edge over regular education is that it does not require cessation of your current job, you can do both simultaneously.
  • No Need to Change your Address: Think about a situation: you put up a place within a 5-minute walk to your office and the college/university from which you are pursuing your higher degree is 50 km away. How will you manage both? You will take an entire day just arriving and coming back to your home every day. So..? Will you one day go to the office and the second day to your institute? The possibility will pain you, definitely. But, distance education provides the death of distance education. You will be getting all the help right at your place.
  • Affordability Angle: A regular course will cost you lakhs. Plus, it will keep you occupied, every hour of the day leaving you little capable of doing anything else. Distance education, on the other hand, is quite viable given the fact that the same course can be completed in mere some thousands and most of your time and resources can be saved.
  • Better support in form of study materials, etc.: It is not that in distance education you will be left out in the lurch. Rather, there is a comprehensive method of addressing your queries and solving these at the earliest. Plus, there are some publishing companies that publish Help Books to understand the study materials provided by the concerned universities in a lucid language. The above-mentioned reasons included but are not limited to the reasons why Distance Education is more popular than regular education.
