How to prepare IGNOU MCOP-001 Project | MCOM Project Report & Synopsis Guidelines

The IGNOU Mcom Project consists of two parts, in the first stage you have to prepare a synopsis or project proposal. Your project proposal should outline the proposed topic, methodology, and objectives to conduct the study. It is a about 12-15 pages short document that is mandatory to submit. Once you get approval on your project proposal then you can move ahead with writing a comprehensive report. Also, you must choose a guide who can help you throughout the project work. 

As we have discussed, you need to start with preparing a project proposal. To begin writing your project proposal or synopsis you need a good and relevant topic. You can choose any topic of your choice, but make sure to choose a topic that is in line with the MCOP-1 project requirements. 1. Introduction: Write a brief about the topic and its importance. 
2. Rationale: Mention why you have chosen the topic. 
3. Literature Review: Review existing literature related to your topic.
4. Objectives: Explain a few objectives of your study. 
5. Research Methodology: Elaborate what methodology you would adopt to conduct the study. 
6. Implications: Write down some of the Implications of the study.
7. Limitations: If your study has any limitations do mention it here. 
8. References: List all the references in the end.

Once the synopsis is ready, attach a proforma for approval along with the Bio-data of the guide and send it to The Regional Director of your Respective Regional Centre / Designated RC).

Once you receive approval on your project proposal (synopsis), then you should move ahead and start working on a project report. The length of the project can be around 80 pages typed in double space. Your project report should be divided into various headings and subheadings. Now let’s understand the Structure of the MCOP-001 Project Report (dissertation): 

1. Introduction: Introduce your topic, give its background along with significance for conducting the work. 
2. Review of Literature: Here you have to write a detailed review of the literature, key concepts, theoretical framework, and existing research. 
3. Research Methodology: This is an important chapter of your project. You should write the methodology which includes Rationale, Statement of the Problem, Objectives, Research Design, Sample, Sampling Technique, Sources of Data Collection, Data Analysis Plan, etc. 
4. Results and Discussion: Here you need to present the collected data in tabular and graphical form. Also, interpret the data and write its significance.
5. Summary and Conclusion: This is the final chapter, here you must mention the key findings of your study,  its implications, and recommendations and then conclude the study with future directions for research. 
6. References: List down all the references in APA format. 
7. Annexures: You can include a Questionnaire or Any form of data in an annexure that aligns with the study.
