How to Take Admission in IGNOU?

It was founded with the idea of providing education to even those who are busy in their jobs or unable to attend regular classes due to any valid reasons. It claims to provide education utilizing distance learning and currently has approximately around 4 million students availing  education through this open university program. So, for anyone who could not avail the advantage of attending regular classes, but still would like to grab a degree in any field of his/her choice, IGNOU is the answer.

In the times of the internet, the procedure of taking admission has got a linear learning curve. All you got to do is, follow some guidelines, practice some clicks and you’re admitted to the University!

Following are the two ways to apply for admission:

1) Online:

• Register online on the given Online Admission System on the given URL:  https://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in
• The aforementioned is the link, clicking on which you will reach the online portal where you will see a tab “Registration Steps”, click on it, and follow all the instructions.
• Once the registration process is complete, you will receive your ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’ generated and provided to you via email or message.
• Log in using this password and username to fill the admission form.
• Provide all necessary documents(as told), upload scanned password-size photos of yours, and fill the details that are required.
• Make an online payment and receive the details once the whole process is complete.

2) Manual

If you are still uncomfortable with the online process, you can simply visit your closest study center and submit a printout of your form along with a photocopy of all the relevant documents and attached photographs, and make payment with a DD, i.e., Demand Draft.

The admissions start every year in the months of January-July and on July-December. The exams are held two times a year, on a semester basis.

For downloading the prospectus, you can visit its portal or buy a hard copy of it from any of its regional centers.

The study material too can be accessed online as well as delivered to your home, once you have submitted your admission fee.
