The aim of the Master’s Degree in Political Science (MPS) is to provide the learners with a sound base in political studies by an in-depth investigation into a broad range of political phenomena at the national, regional, and international levels. The program provides options for specializing in Political Theory, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Indian Government and Politics. Learners would thus acquire skills in political analysis as well as sharpen their critical and analytical abilities. This is a 64 credits program with compulsory and optional courses. The student has to take compulsory courses worth 32 credits in the first year and optional courses worth 32 credits in the second year
MPS OR Master of Arts in Political Science is a Master's degree conferred to students. Like any other college course, the MPS Course duration is a minimum of 2 years and maximum of 5 years.
With the academic session of July 2019, the IGNOU has adopted the Choice Based Credit System presented by the University Grants Commission. The Choice-based Credit System, which is on offer at the Master's degree level, gives adaptability to the students to study the subjects/courses of their needs and interests.
