The globalization of higher education, mainly via the distance mode of shipping, has given an altogether exceptional angle to the go-border transport of IGNOU’s academic packages in numerous international locations. The International Division came into existence after the international operations of the University. The Division became established on 16 October, 1997 as a Cell and was upgraded to the fame of a full-fledged Division in 2002. From 1996 onwards, the International Division has been assigned the task of offering and promoting the academic programs of IGNOU by the way of organizing bilateral and multilateral co-operations with numerous partner institutions and organizations/universities throughout the globe. At present, IGNOU is offering academic programs in 35 countries across the globe via 62 Partner Institutions.
M.S.W. or Master of Social Work is a postgraduate Social Work program. Social Work is both a professional and academic discipline whose area of study is intended to improve the quality of life of an individual, group, and or community belonging to a weaker section. The duration of a Masters's in Social Work is 2 years, usually comprising 4 semesters; these may vary depending upon the institute providing it. The course can be pursued through distance learning, correspondence, or a part-time model. A correspondence in MSW offers a bit less practical training as compared to the classroom program. The maximum duration for completing the course is 5 Years through Correspondence as per IGNOU, however this duration may vary in some institutes. The medium of instruction is mostly English and Hindi. Certain institutes offer it as M.S.W which stands for Master of Social Work. University provides a Five Year Integrated Course in Social Work which leads to BSW (three years) and MSW (two years) Degrees. The Master Degree course curriculum offers opportunities for specialization in four distinct areas, namely, Family and Child Welfare, Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, and Community Development.
