IGNOU MLIP-02 Project – Digital Library Infrastructure of Ananda Rangapillai Library Pondicherry University

In recent times libraries are shifting their role from the custodian of traditional information resources to the provider of service-oriented digital information resources. The extensive use of computers, increased reliance on computer networks, rapid growth of the Internet and explosion in the quality of information compelled libraries to adopt new means and methods for the storage, retrieval and dissemination of information.

Objectives

• The following are the objectives of the study:
• To study the existing status of the strategies and network based infrastructure in the Ananda Rangapillai Library;
• To study the nature of digital materials available in the Ananda Rangapillai Library;
• To study the mode of access to digital resources and networking facilities in library of Ananda Rangapillai Library;
• To study the digitization methods and processes adopted in the library of Ananda Rangapillai Library.
