IGNOU MLIP-02 Project – Internet Service in the Rabindra Library of Assam University

One of the most significant achievement in the information and communication sector is the introduction of advanced communication network i.e., the Internet, the technology connecting a computer with millions of computers in the network. The internet today has become one of the most important mode of communication and its services are being exploited by people in every walk of life such as business, education, defense, medicine, etc. In the field of library and information science, the Internet has become one of the most popular and talked about subject. In fact the library profession is one that has been most intensely affected by the challenges of internet and the World Wide Web(WWW).

Objectives

• To assess internet facilities provided by the Rabindra Library of Assam University;
• To study the information professionals’ attitude towards the usage and benefits of Internet;
• To identify the different purposes for which the Internet is being used by the students, research scholars, teachers, and staff;
• To find out the problems faced by the respondents while using the Internet;
• To identify users’ awareness about internet & its tools;
