IGNOU MPCE-26 Project – Family Climate and Parental Encouragement of Adolescents: A Correlational Study

In modem industrial societies, the passage from childhood to adulthood is marked by a long transitional period known as adolescence. Adolescence has been defined in a number of ways from different points of view, as a period of physical development, a chronological age span or a sociological phenomenon. A family is a child's first experience of relationships generally occurs within the family. It is a small intimate group of basic setting within which most children meet society where they learn how to behave within a society and outside world.

Objectives

• The following objectives are formulated for the present study:
• To compare the family climate among male and female adolescents;
• To compare the family climate among adolescents of private and government secondary school;
• To compare the parental encouragement among male and female adolescents;
• To compare the parental encouragement among adolescents of private and government secondary school;
• To study the relationship between family climate and parental encouragement among
• adolescents of secondary school.
