IGNOU MPCE-26 Project – Self Efficacy and Emotional Intelligence in Relation to Academic Stress on Students

Adolescents with high academic achievement are believed to be accepted by peers, teachers and parents, are identified in the society, get good career opportunities, develop leadership qualities, and enhance their self confidence and self esteem. Whereas, academic failure results in frustration, stress, inferiority complex, rejection, more number of suicides, dropping out of school or college, higher rates of unemployment, and antisocial behavior (Steinberg, Blinde & Chan, 1984; Gadwa & Griggs, 1985; Center for the Study of Social Policy, 1986; Ekstrom, Goertz, Pollack,& Rock,1986; Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development, 1989).

Objectives

• The following objectives are formulated for the present study: -
• To study the relationship between academic stress and emotional intelligence among students.
• To study the relationship between academic stress and Self-efficacy among Secondary students.
• To study the difference in male and female students on their academic stress.
• To study the difference in male and female students on their Self-efficacy.
• To study the difference male and female students on their emotional intelligence.
