IGNOU MTM-16/MTTM-16 Project – Impact of Eco Tourism on Ecology with special reference to Uttranchal

Travel and tourism are among the world’s fastest growing industries and are major source of foreign exchange earnings for many developing countries. In the past few years, there has been a splendid upsurge in the number of tourists visiting India. According to report of Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India, the international tourist arrivals, that stood at a mere 12.5 lakhs in 1980, increased to 44 lakhs in 2006.

Objectives

• To identify and evaluate the effects of ecotourism on economy, cultural and the environment of local people in Uttaranchal.
• To determine specific recommendations to enhance the awareness of the government, local community and tourist of the impacts on the local people
• To identify factors that lead to satisfaction and dissatisfaction of tourists who visits the destinations
• To find if there is any difference in the satisfaction of tourist with respect to demographic variables.
• To determine specific recommendations to increase tourists arrival to Uttaranchal.
