IGNOU MTM-16/MTTM-16 Project – Tourism and Karnataka’s Economic Development

Karnataka is located in the southern region of India. It is surrounded by the Arabian Sea in the west, Goa in the northwest, Maharashtra in the north, Andhra Pradesh in the east, Tamil Nadu in the southeast, and Kerala in the southwest. The history of Karnataka is long and interesting. It is the eighth largest Indian state by area. With 61,130,704 inhabitants at the 2011 census, Karnataka is the ninth largest state by population, comprising 30 districts. Kannada is the most widely spoken and official language of the state.

Objectives

• Role of tourism in economic development (or employment generation) of Karnataka.
• To study those ways, which leads to improving the economy of Karnataka.
• Role of Govt. in promoting the economic condition of the people through improving tourism in Karnataka.
