IGNOU PGDHHM-06 Project – Performance Appraisal System in Healthcare Sector

Performance appraisal is the strength of performance management, which in turn affects the organizational performance. It helps to identify and overcome the problems faced by the employees on his/her work (Mackey and Johnson, 2000:3). Although it has many benefits for the organization, Nurse (2005:1179) states that performance appraisal have the equal probability of having a bad impact on the organization as well as on employee performance. According to Mackey and Johnson (2000:3), where the performance appraisal improves the work performance and employee satisfaction, it can also demotivate employees and leaves a bad impression on the good employees.

Objectives

• Following objectives are formulated for the proposed study:
• To study the current Performance Appraisal system at Fortis Healthcare Limited, Guwahati
• To study employee satisfaction towards their performance appraisal system.
• To evaluate the effectiveness of feedback collected through performance appraisal system of the organization.
• To suggest suitable strategies to improve the effectiveness of performance appraisal system.
