IGNOU PTS-05 Project – Awareness among Vendors and Local Shopkeepers at Tourists Places towards the Environmental Fragility

The impact of business on the environment has become an issue of increasing concern since the late 1980s. This concern has been shared not only by environmental groups and legislators, but also by customers, local communities, public authorities, suppliers, financial institutions and employees. As a result, there has been increasing pressure for owner/ managers of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to improve their environmental management activities and practices.

Objectives

• To assess the behaviour of the business owners towards the environmental fragility of the tourists places of Siliguri.
• To analyze the conduct of the shopkeepers and small business vendors at the tourists places of Siliguri towards preventing pollution.
• To understand the steps taken by the government towards preventing the ecosystem at the tourists places of Siliguri.
• To judge the actions of the shopkeepers relating to environmental management.
