If seen in the Map of India, Bhopal occupies the central most region of the country. The city of Bhopal shares its border with two large and picturesque lakes.

Objectives

  • Optimum utilization of rich tourist resources of the state in order to attract maximum number of domestic and international tourists.
  • To facilitate the growth of tourism in the states so that the private sector contributes significantly in the development of tourism in Bhopal.
  • Preservation of rich bio-diversity, natural, historical, architectural and cultural heritage of Bhopal with special emphasis on conservation of historical monuments in Bhopal.
  • To develop a ready market for the rich and varied handicrafts and cottage industries of Bhopal so as to ensure welfare of artisans/artists.
  • To promote inter-cultural understanding through religious/pilgrim tourism and fairs and festivals.
  • To promote socio-economic development of Bhopal through tourism with special thrust on backward areas.
  • To make tourism a ‘people’s industry’ in the state.
  • To open new vistas in tourism like adventure tourism, eco-tourism, camel/horse safaris, river and canal cruise, house boats in Bhopal (Palace-On-Waves), educational tourism, caravan tourism and village tourism.
