The central land of Madhya Pradesh, the land of Kings and primitive people, of rugged mountains , myth and romance, is the largest state in the Indian Union, with its capital at Bhopal. M.P. is a vast plateau surrounded by the Vindhya and Satpura mountains that make a rugged descent into the valleys of the Narmada and Tapti rivers which have long served as a passageway connecting east and west India. The people are proud of their culture. The men here are of the marital type, the women proud and graceful; those married recognizable by their vermilion and green glass bangles.

- Optimum utilization of rich tourist resources of the state in order to attract maximum number of domestic and international tourists.
- To facilitate the growth of tourism in the states so that the private sector contributes significantly in the development of tourism in Indore.
- Preservation of rich bio-diversity, natural, historical, architectural and cultural heritage of Indore with special emphasis on conservation of historical monuments in Indore.
- To develop a ready market for the rich and varied handicrafts and cottage industries of Indore so as to ensure welfare of artisans/artists.
- To promote inter-cultural understanding through religious/pilgrim tourism and fairs and festivals.
- To promote socio-economic development of Indore through tourism with special thrust on backward areas.
- To make tourism a ‘people’s industry’ in the state.
- To open new vistas in tourism like adventure tourism, eco-tourism, camel/horse safaris, river and canal cruise, house boats in Indore (Palace-On-Waves), educational tourism, caravan tourism and village tourism
