In order to make learners able to complete, for December 2022 and June 2023 Term-End Examination, the practicals of several Supervised Practicum courses, Internship, and Dissertation of the program Master of Science in Counselling and Family Therapy (MSCCFT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy (PGDCFT); considering the challenges in doing the field work because of COVID-19 pandemic, guidelines denoting modifications in the practical activities that are required to be carried out and the best alternative way of doing the same, are mentioned below. However, prior to starting the Facilitative Guidelines, it is important to refresh the following:
- As you already know, all 6 practical courses of PGDCFT, and 9 practical courses, Internship and Dissertation of MSCCFT, have an internal evaluation and external evaluation components. The Academic Counsellor is needed to give internal evaluation marks on the practical file/Internship Report/Dissertation Report. Though the learners are needed to submit the Supervised Practicum files and Internship Report at the Student Evaluation Division (SED) at IGNOU HQs for external evaluation, the Dissertation is required to be submitted to the respective Regional Centre for external evaluation and interview.
- The evaluation process (comprising internal and external evaluation) remains the same for almost all courses. In this way, in the case of Supervised Practicum courses and Internship, the duly authenticated internal assessment marks given by the Academic Counsellor at the Study Centre/Program Study Centre; are contained in the practical file/Internship Report submitted by the learner to the Student Evaluation Division (SED) at IGNOU HQs for external evaluation, account for 50% weightage in the final score of the respective course. Considering that it is a must to pass in the internal evaluation component as well, SED tends to return the Supervised Practicum file/Internship Report to the learner, without sending it for external evaluation, if it does not have the internal assessment marks given by the Academic Counsellor.
- In the Dissertation, the internal assessment marks given by the Academic Counsellor/Supervisor at the Study Centre/Program Study Centre provide 40% weightage. In this way, the learners need to make sure that the Dissertation submitted by them to the Regional Centre for external evaluation and practical, has the summative internal assessment marks out of 40, which is given by the Academic Counsellor/Supervisor, which may be stated on the Certificate of Authenticity enclosed in the Dissertation.
- Learners will have to make sure that the Supervised Practicum file/Internship Report submitted by them at SED, IGNOU HQs, has the duly authenticated internal assessment marks issued by the Academic Counsellor, else the Practical File/Internship Report would be rejected by SED for external evaluation.
- Learners can submit the hard copy of the Supervised Practicum file/Internship Report at SED, else they may submit the soft copy via online mode. However, it is important to mention here that the submission of soft copy through online mode must ONLY be done at the “Online Submission Link for Projects/Dissertation/Field Work Journals/Internship Reports” made available on the university website for the purpose. Supervised Practicum files/Internship Reports sent through email would not be accepted by SED, IGNOU HQs for external evaluation.
