Hyderabad pronunciation (help•info) (Urdu: حیدر آباد / Hyderabad, Hyderabad ) is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad metropolitan area is the sixth largest metropolitan area in India. Greater Hyderabad has an estimated metropolitan population of 10 million, making it an A-1 status city and the second largest (in terms of area) in the country.[2][3] Hyderabad is known for its rich history, culture and architecture representing its unique character as a meeting point for North and South India, and also its multilingual culture, both geographically and culturally.

Objectives

To facilitate the growth of tourism in the states so that the private sector contributes significantly in the development of tourism in Hyderabad
Preservation of rich bio-diversity, natural, historical, architectural and cultural heritage of Hyderabad with special emphasis on conservation of historical monuments in Hyderabad.
To develop a ready market for the rich and varied handicrafts and cottage industries of Hyderabad so as to ensure welfare of artisans/artists.
To promote inter-cultural understanding through religious/pilgrim tourism and fairs and festivals.
To promote socio-economic development of Hyderabad through tourism with special thrust on backward areas.
To make tourism a ‘people’s industry’ in the state.
To open new vistas in tourism like adventure tourism, eco-tourism, camel/horse safaris, river and canal cruise, house boats in Hyderabad (Palace-On-Waves), educational tourism, caravan tourism and village tourism.
