Adolescents with high academic achievement are believed to be accepted by peers, teachers and parents, are identified in the society, get good career opportunities, develop leadership qualities, and enhance their self confidence and self esteem. Whereas, academic failure results in frustration, stress, inferiority complex, rejection, more number of suicides, dropping out of school or college, higher rates of unemployment, and antisocial behavior (Steinberg, Blinde & Chan, 1984; Gadwa & Griggs, 1985; Center for the Study of Social Policy, 1986; Ekstrom, Goertz, Pollack,& Rock,1986; Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development, 1989).
